Hello everyone,

My name is Carrie Hall. I named this blog DC in DC because DC just so happens to be my middle name, so basically my name is Carrie DC Hall lol Now that we got that out of the way, let me give you a little bit of my background:

I am from Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame which I can say inspired me to do a lot of things I've done and also that I do still today. I coach little league football for a city league titled Canton Youth Football League or CYFL for short. I do this because I started playing football in the little league when I was 11, and I probably need to tell you now that I am a girl! I continued to play all the way up to high school at Canton McKinley High School, which is a nationally recognized sports powerhouse, and little old me made history as being the first female to ever run the ball in a varsity football game at McKinley. I coach football because I need to give back to my community. I have so many people behind me for what I do so it's only right for me to coach, plus I still play Women's Tackle Football for the WFA during the summer but this once in a lifetime opportunity AAPD has given me is worth sitting a season out for.

When it comes to my disability, I have Bipolar Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Anxiety. I was diagnosed with these while I was in boot camp for the United States Navy. I was going to have my dream job, being an Operations Specialist who monitored sensitive activities via a computer. I was sent home before I even finished boot camp which made me severely depressed and also suicidal. Thank God that I didn't give up though, He has so many plans for me, and I'm just getting started!

I am a junior at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio but most of my classes I take at the Stark Regional Campus (insider: it's closer and it's cheaper!). My major is in Computer Science with a concentration in Information Security, and this is why I am so psyched to be coming to D.C.! First off, I have never been to D.C. and to top that I've been blessed to get an internship at the USDA through AAPD!!!

Today is my first official day of summer vacation, I took my last exam which was in computer science yesterday. This also is my first day for my countdown to D.C. in D.C. I leave for D.C. on a 7am flight on Sunday, May 27th, and if you haven't noticed today is only May 18th. This pre-trip intro just goes to show you all how excited I am! I think a lot of other interns this summer have a mixture of anxiety, nervousness and excitement like I do, but excited definitely trumps the other two for me. I've talked to Ms. Sharon Randle from the USDA and she, along with her other colleagues are just as excited to meet me as I am excited to meet them. I've been shopping for blouses and business suits to make sure I represent myself and AAPD accordingly, but I do plan to have fun on the weekends with some friends from school who live there.

This is it; my first internship, my first time to Washington D.C. D.C. in D.C. begins soon and I will filling all my readers in every step of the way, and it will be a lot shorter and sweeter in the ones to follow, I promise!
